Free to download. The licence key comes from your distributor.
Downloading and installing Setu is free. Before it can start billing, Setu needs a licence key for your shop, from your Matih distributor. One key is for one shop, on one computer: keep it private, and never type your shop's key on another PC. Setting up the key needs the internet once.
Most shops don't need to download anything: your Matih support person brings the installer and sets Setu up with you. This page is for when they ask you to download it.
What your PC needs
- Windows 10, version 1809 or later, or Windows 11, 64-bit. Setu does not run on Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. To see your version, press the Windows key and R together, type
winverand press Enter. - 4 GB of memory (RAM) or more.
- At least 10 GB free on the C: drive.
- A screen of 1366 × 768 or larger.
- India time. The time zone set to "(UTC+05:30) Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi", and the clock right. Bills take their date and time from it.
- The internet, once to activate the licence key, and from time to time after that to renew it. Billing itself never needs the internet.
- One billing PC per shop for now.
Devices that work with Setu
- A bill printer, thermal roll (58 mm or 80 mm), or A4 or A5 for GST invoices, with the printer maker's own Windows driver installed.
- A barcode scanner that types like a keyboard. Most USB scanners do.
- A cash drawer that plugs into the bill printer, if you use one.
- A weighing scale, if you sell loose goods.
- A UPS is a good idea, so the PC gets clean power.
If Windows shows a warning
Windows is careful with new downloads, so it may warn you about Setu. Here is what you may see, and what to do.
- While downloading in Microsoft Edge, the file may say it "isn't commonly downloaded". Open Downloads (Ctrl+J), point at the file, click … and choose Keep. If Edge asks "Make sure you trust…", click the arrow beside Delete and choose Keep anyway. Delete is the default button there, so don't press Enter.
- When you open the file, Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Check the file's fingerprint first (below). If it matches, click More info, then Run anyway.
- Windows then asks whether to let the app make changes, and may show "Publisher: Unknown". Click Yes. If your shop's Windows account is not an administrator, Windows asks for the administrator's password here.
Only choose Run anyway when the fingerprint check below matches. If it doesn't match, don't run the file.
Check the file's fingerprint (SHA-256)
Every file has a fingerprint: a long line of letters and numbers called its SHA-256. If even one letter of the file changed on the way to you, the fingerprint is different. Checking it takes a minute.
- Download the installer. It goes to your Downloads folder.
- Press the Windows key, type PowerShell and press Enter. A window opens where you can type.
- Copy this line, paste it into that window (right-click pastes), and press Enter:
Get-FileHash $HOME\Downloads\Matih-Setu-Setup-1.4.3-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA256Saved the file somewhere else? TypeGet-FileHashand a space, drag the file into the window, then type-Algorithm SHA256and press Enter. - Windows shows a long line under Hash. Compare it with this one, the SHA-256 shown next to the download above: 77e1e8b459d91a2bd2e8894b1d20c5b9126494bc2109e444eb34c30fb092c432 They must be exactly the same. Capital or small letters don't matter.
- The same? The file is the real Matih Setu installer, and you can run it. Different? Don't run it. Delete it and download it again, or ask your distributor.
Installing
Your Matih support person usually installs Setu with you. If they ask you to start it yourself, double-click the downloaded file and follow the steps:
- Setup shows Matih's Terms and Conditions to read and accept.
- It asks which Windows account the shop uses at the counter.
- Setu then opens its first-time setup. With the internet on, type the licence key from your distributor and your shop's details.
Step-by-step help is in the help pages. No licence key yet? Talk to your Matih distributor: phone +91-6364247664, e-mail contact@matihlabs.com.
